Ilocos Norte's Booming Tourism Industry Attracts Interest from Norwegian Cruise Ships

Why do Norwegian cruise ships keep coming to Ilocos Norte?

Norwegian cruise ships frequently visit Ilocos Norte, particularly docking at the Port of Currimao, due to the region's rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and the economic benefits that cruise tourism brings to local communities.

Cultural and Historical Attractions: Ilocos Norte offers a variety of attractions that appeal to international tourists. For instance, Norwegian Cruise Line's Ilocos Norte Culinary & Heritage Tour includes visits to significant sites such as a 17th-century church in Badoc, the Juan Luna Shrine, and the Ferdinand E. Marcos Presidential Center in Batac. These excursions provide passengers with immersive experiences in the local culture and history.

Economic Impact: The arrival of cruise ships has a positive effect on the local economy. Tour operator Angel Lao reported that in the first two months of the year, over 6,000 international cruise passengers visited the Ilocos Region. This influx supports local businesses, creates jobs, and boosts the livelihoods of micro, small, and medium enterprises. The presence of tourists leads to increased demand for services such as guided tours, transportation, and dining, directly benefiting the community.

Strategic Itinerary Planning: Ilocos Norte's location makes it an attractive stop for cruise itineraries. For example, the MV Norwegian Sky included Currimao in its 13-day voyage from Singapore to Keelung, Taiwan, with stops in other Philippine destinations like Puerto Princesa and Boracay. This strategic inclusion allows passengers to experience diverse attractions within the Philippines, enhancing the overall appeal of the cruise.

In summary, Norwegian cruise ships continue to visit Ilocos Norte due to the region's compelling tourist attractions, the economic advantages for local communities, and its strategic position within Southeast Asian cruise routes.

Do they like the place?

While specific feedback from Norwegian Cruise Line passengers regarding their experiences in Ilocos Norte is not readily available, the inclusion of the Ilocos Norte Culinary & Heritage Tour in NCL's shore excursion offerings suggests that the region provides attractions that are appealing to cruise passengers. This tour features visits to significant historical sites and offers samples of local delicacies, indicating a curated experience designed to showcase the area's cultural richness. From: ncl.com

The continued inclusion of Ilocos Norte in NCL's itineraries implies a positive reception from guests, as cruise lines typically adjust their destinations based on passenger satisfaction and demand.

Are there any other nationalities on the ship?

Yes, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ships host a diverse range of nationalities among both passengers and crew members.

Passenger Demographics:

NCL attracts guests from various countries, with a significant portion hailing from the United States. The cruise industry sees about half of its global passengers coming from the U.S. milkenreview.org

However, NCL's international itineraries, such as those visiting Ilocos Norte in the Philippines, draw travelers from around the world, including Europe, Asia, and other regions. This mix results in a multicultural environment on board.

Crew Composition:

The crew on NCL ships is notably international. A substantial number of shipboard team members come from the Philippines, comprising almost half of the workforce across NCL's fleet. Additionally, many crew members are recruited from countries like India, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and former Soviet republics. milkenreview.org

This diverse crew brings a wide range of cultural backgrounds and languages to the ship's operations.

In summary, NCL cruises are characterized by a rich tapestry of nationalities among both passengers and crew, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere on board.

Do you recommend it / Any issues?

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) offers various cruise experiences that cater to various traveler preferences. Their "Freestyle Cruising" concept provides a relaxed atmosphere with no set dining times, allowing guests to enjoy a flexible schedule. NCL is known for its vibrant entertainment options, including Broadway-style shows, and a variety of dining venues. This makes it a popular choice for families and those seeking a laid-back cruise experience. nypost.com

However, recent reviews have highlighted some areas of concern. Passengers have noted issues such as overcrowding, with reports of long lines for various activities and services. Some guests have also mentioned that certain ships in the fleet feel outdated, despite refurbishments. Additionally, there have been comments about organizational challenges, particularly concerning excursions. cruisecritic.com

Regarding specific destinations like Ilocos Norte in the Philippines, NCL has included ports such as Currimao in its itineraries. For instance, a Norwegian cruise ship with 2,376 passengers and 1,970 crew members from different countries docked at the Port of Currimao, offering passengers the opportunity to explore local attractions and culture. gmanetwork.com

In summary, if you value flexible dining, diverse entertainment, and a family-friendly environment, NCL could be a suitable choice.

Going to BATAC CITY, ILOCOS NORTE - The Busiest area of Batac City

This is the way to the center or capital of Batac from the north (Laoag) going south

Look at that! Look at the JOLLIBE mascot very interesting.

Of course, they have Joliibee and other restaurants so the visitors can stay longer and eat their lunch or dinner at night, Parking spaces are very spacious.

This is also a busy road of Batac Market in Batac City, I.N. At the right is the Public Market where all of the Vegetables & Fruits come from their local farms from the high lands and mountains, they produce more of it than in Laoag, maybe because they have bigger Farm market and so on.

Inside the Public Dry Market

Public Dry Market

In the Busiest area of Batac City Near the Public HOSPITAL, they have little restaurants around and they just called Carinderia one of them is Probinsya Food House

No wonder they are busy, they also have C & E pizza here near the Quioait River on the right.

And here is the road where everyone is walking and vice versa to the Hospital, you know the MMMH&MC or Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital & Medical Center is the biggest Hospital in Ilocos Norte, It is Very wide and Big every Department has its own Building
You can see it here at Google map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Batac,+Ilocos+Norte/@18.0603261,120.5588364,217m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x338ec047b18eab5f:0x1b8a51fac968a561!8m2!3d18.0460318!4d120.5940777!16zL20vMDZqdzk4?entry=ttu

Another Carinderia is the GABBY EATERY, the story behind why there are so many CARENDIRIA around the hospital is that, I think when the visitors or Bantay of the patient inside the hospital stay long and they don't actually give free meals inside that's why they go around and see for carinderia to eat and ready to going back again to see there relatives who are confined.

I just love this photo

And you can't see a Jollibee without its long rival the MCDONALDS of the USA
Anyway, they both produce good food and we don't have to compare them.

I laugh at this carinderia name, there is just a related thing I'm thinking in Ilocano, IMAS means Delicious

There are also Mini groceries here why not, you need tissues and alcohol at the hospital
You need drinks because it is hot, you need bread and cookies

This is the Main Entrance of the Hospital I guess

Thank you for the time to read this article i hope you guys give me a good time to tell something in the comments section below, thank you very much.

Pasuquin Municipal Hall is a local government office located in Pasuquin, a municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Municipal halls serve as administrative centers where local government officials carry out their duties and provide services to the community.

If you need specific information about Pasuquin Municipal Hall, such as contact details, office hours, or services offered, I recommend reaching out directly to the municipal office. You can contact them through their official phone number or visit their physical location for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
